77) So Far From God

Anna Castillo was the first Latino author that made me want to be that fun, and amazingly gifted. She is the bar that I one day hope to match or exceed, and as an English major whose read Joyce, Proust, Twain ect ect it was a relief to find something that spoke to me.
On a side note I was lucky to be given a copy of The Mixquiahuala Letters, another novel of hers that can be read differently depending on your personality. That is a book that women lend out from friend to friend.

“But what had really happened, unfortunately, as ideal as it started out to be, was not that they had succeeded in becoming one, but that they had become neither.”

78) Scooby Doo

There is just something about this show that translates well over time. The harlem globe trotters  and bat man for god sakes were guests. i have also seen the live action ones, this show will not die. Note I have no problem with scrappy do, because I was a kid then and accept him for all his miserable failure.

79) Pilot precise V7

There are better Japanese pens. I find that people who love thier pens or care what they use know and love this pen. Especially the V7 for me. When I first started to develop an art style this pen was my work horse I would write prose and the pen felt like it would leak out ideas and because of its not so fine point i used it in all my art.  I never go without, The Pilot G-5s are okay but nothing compares to the V series.

80) Reality Bites

Ben Stiller had become an influence at this point in my life and I went to see this as a kid, it would be the first movie I would serial watch after summer school. You me and $5 dollars was a philosophy to me.

81) The Ben Stiller show

This was the kind of show that was ahead of its time. I won an emmy for best writing the year it was canceled. I became a Ben Stiller fan, this show had Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo and Bob Odenkirk. As writers it would have Judd Apatow and David Cross. Even as a kid I knew this show was smart, it influenced me

82) Henry Wienhart Root Beers

My college roommates introduced this to me. I in turn introduce to anyone who will listen. are you listening? It is smooth....

83) Jimmy Carter

I was born under the Carter Administration, and from what I understand is that this perhaps was one of the most honorable men to be leader of the free world. Clinton was the first president I ever voted for and I think of him fondly but Carter is the honest man who was painted in history as loser one timer. When instead besides LB. Johnson was one of the most successful presidents to push through legislation. I felt people didn't want an honest man as their president, they wanted fantasy, because reality was too depressing.
